Hace al menos 2 años atrás me contactó James Atlas para que escribiera un ensayo para un libro “destinado” al público de USA titulado HOW THEY SEE US: Meditations on America. La verdad es que se me había olvidado. Pero, claro, sí, escribí algo. Lo escribí directamente al inglés como experimento.

El libro salió el penúltimo día del 2009 pero, para mí al menos, lo considero un libro del 2010. Ya está empezando a reseñarse y comentarse en la prensa de EEUU. De este lado del mundo también está Daniel Alarcón, Carmen Boullosa y Fernando Baez.

Mi essay se llama A STRANGER AMONG THEM… aqui una de las primera reviews, de The Dallas Morning News:

…Yet reading the writers of How They See Us is like listening to American talking heads of radio and cable seize on a fact and ravage its meaning with conspiracy-minded bombast. The collection has one or two gems. Chile’s Alberto Fuguet (Shorts, HarperCollins, 2005) asks how things would look if the tables were turned: “I don’t even want to know how they see us”. Like many of the writers, he notes the ubiquity of American commercial and cultural influences. Thankfully, Fuguet has a sense of humor: “You always can find a Coke even in the darkest basement full of leaflets and Molotov cocktails.”
